How to Prevent Clogs in Your Drainage System - Practical Tips
Clogged drains are one of the most common problems faced by homeowners and apartment dwellers. However, many of these issues can be easily prevented by following a few simple rules.

It is best to install inlet sewer lines using 45-degree angle tees. The gentler the bends, the better for the system. The elbows used at the joints should also have the smallest possible angle. Instead of an 87-degree elbow, it is better to use two 45-degree elbows, and so on.

I always tell my clients: I'm a nice guy, but I'm expensive 😉

Do not pour grease down the drain
Cooking grease is the main enemy of your plumbing. When grease cools down, it hardens and sticks to the inside of pipes, causing clogs. Always let the grease cool down first, then dispose of it in the trash.

Use drain screens
Simple strainers placed over the drains of sinks, bathtubs, and showers will catch hair, food scraps, and other debris before they reach the pipes. This is the cheapest and easiest way to prevent clogs.

Clean your drains regularly
Once a month, pour hot water down the drain or use natural cleaning products, such as baking soda and vinegar. This will help dissolve small buildup before it becomes a problem.

Avoid throwing away paper towels
Paper towels do not dissolve in water like toilet paper. Always throw them in the trash, never in the toilet.

Do not pour medicines down the drain
Medicines, oils, and chemicals can damage the sewer system and the environment. Always dispose of them in the special containers provided at pharmacies.

Do you unclog drains yourself?
Do not push rods, sticks, or other objects into the sewer system. We often have to remove such items from the sewer system. Our cameras then reveal the damage caused by such actions.

Drain cleaners
You should know that all powdered drain cleaners are made with caustic soda. Caustic soda coats the inside of the pipes, effectively cementing them shut. Always choose liquid drain cleaners; this will prevent the pipes from becoming even more clogged.

Moist wipes and tissues
DO NOT FLUSH DOWN THE TOILET!
Wet wipes and moist towelettes—even if they are labeled as biodegradable—must never be flushed down the toilet under any circumstances. This is particularly damaging to cast-iron plumbing.
I probably don’t need to point out that sanitary pads, tampons, and similar items aren’t welcome in the restroom, do I?
